About Our Teachers

Fatima Khokhar:

Fatima completed a three year institute program in Arabic and Islamic Studies at the Abu Nour University in Damascus.  She has taught tajweed and Arabic at the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam as well as private Arabic and Quranic studies lesson at her home.

Sasha Abdur-Rashid:

Sasha completed 1 year at Abu Nour University in Damacus, 1 1/2 years at the University of Damacus Arabic Language Institute.  Then she completed 3 years of Arabic and Islamic Studies at Dar Az-Zahra Islamic Institute in Yemen.  She has taught Arabic and some aspects of Fiqh privately and for area masjids.

Shahidah Sharif:

Shahidah completed a three year institute program in Arabic and Islamic Studies at the Abu Nour University in Damascus.  She is an Islamic Studies and Arabic teacher for elementary and middle school students at Clara Muhammad School.

Safiyyah Saleem:

Safiyyah has studied the Arabic language at Middlebury College in Vermont and in Damascus, Syria where she completed the third and final year of an Arabic and Islamic studies program.  She has taught Tajweed at the Atlanta Masjid of Al-Islam and is currently completing a Master’s in Applied Linguistics at Georgia State.

Zaynab Ansari:

Zaynab has received a a diploma in Shariah from Abu Nour University.  While there, she studied Qur'anic exegesis, Sacred Law, tenets of faith, Arabic, and hadith sciences.  She also spent a year at the University of Damascus, studying advance Arabic.  She continued her studies upon returning under Ustadh Khalil Abdur-Rashid.  She graduated fro Georgia State Unversity with a BA in History and BIS in Middle Eastern Studies.  She is currently a full-time instructor for SunniPath Academy, an online institution of Islamic learning.
